Glen Richards aims to add another national title to his impressive collection at Brands Hatch tomorrow.

The Hinckley ace goes into the final round of the Motorpoint British Supersport Championship with a narrow 12.5 point lead over title rival Jack Kennedy.

With two races scheduled, it could go either way but Richards, who rides for the Smiths (Gloucester) Triumph team, is determined to protect his advantage.

The pair took a win apiece on the Brands' Grand Prix circuit earlier in the season and are set to be equally matched again as they bid for the final 50 points of the campaign.

Richards said: "We are not that far apart but, for me, it is better to be going into the final races of the season ahead in the standings rather than behind. We will have to wait and see what happens."

Kennedy, who rides for Martrain Yamaha, said: "I am sure it will go down to the wire in the last race of the year and be really tight between us. It will be fun to watch that's all I will say!"

Victory for Richards will clinch yet another national title.

He was British Superstocks champion in 2007, and British Supersports winner 12 months later on a Triumph. Last season, he was won the British Superbikes Evo class title.

Team-mate Billy McConnell, who also lives in Hinckley, will be hoping to cement third place, knowing that a top-two finish is now out of the question.

Looking ahead to 2013, Smiths have announced they will continue to be backed by Hinckley-based manufacturer Triumph

Both Richards and McConnell are confirmed as staying with the team, which will be known as Smiths Triumph, for the campaign.
