Motorcyclist dies after four-vehicle crash on A6006 Asfordby Road, near Melton

A motorcyclist has died after a four-vehicle crash in Leicestershire.

The collision happened at around 11.10am today on the A6006 Asfordby Road close to Melton.

The accident involved a green Ford Focus Estate, a BMW motorcycle, a green Ford Transit van and silver Honda Civic.

The rider of the motorcycle died at the scene. They have yet to be formally identified.

The driver of the Honda was taken to the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham where she is in a serious condition.

The passenger in the Transit van was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment to minor injuries.

No-one else was injured.

A 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.
