A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital after he was involved in a collision with a car.

The rider injured in Swain Street, off St George's Way, Leicester city centre at 1.20am on Sunday. (Dec 16)

He was taken to Queen's Medical Centre, in Nottingham, where his condition was described today as serious.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the collision between the Jinlun motorbike and a Honda Civic.

The driver and passenger from the Honda Civic were both uninjured.

Detective Constable Seamus Burns said: "The motorbike was travelling towards the city, and the Honda in the opposite direction, when the collision happened.

"We would like to speak to anyone who was driving or walking along Swain Street around the time, who may have witnessed the collision.

"Did you see either vehicle prior to the collision? Any information you have could help us with our investigation so please don't hesitate to get in touch."
