Midfielder Franck Moussa says he is happy to play a waiting game for his big break at Leicester City.

The 21-year-old Belgian midfielder has been used off the bench in City's two Championship matches since arriving on a free transfer from Southend United last month.

Moussa did start in City's Carling Cup win at Leeds and looked impressive in a reserve-team defeat to West Ham on Tuesday.

City boss Paulo Sousa has said that Moussa is a player for the future who would not be rushed into first-team action.

"What happens is up to the manager and all I can do is try to impress him whenever I get the chance, but I'm happy to be patient," said Moussa.

"The lads have made me very welcome and the manager is trying to make it easy for me, so I don't have any complaints.

"He was the main reason I came to the club and now I'm working hard to adapt to his style of play."

Moussa played more than 100 games for Southend during a five-year stay with the Essex club, so being on the bench is a new experience.

"It is what it is. The manager has a squad of good players and I'll add to it when I can," he said.

Moussa had his first taste of Championship experience as a 17-year-old when Southend played in the second tier during the 2006-07 season.

"I've had a taste of what it is like playing in big games, and now I've got more experience I'm confident I won't be fazed by anything when I get my chance."

Moussa was one of the reserves' stand-out players in the clash against the Hammers, which was settled by a goal from the visitors after just 16 seconds.

He said: "It was one of those games where we started sloppily and were punished but after that we settled down and there was a lot of quality play out there.

"But it is one of those training-ground matches which are all about fitness. It is important I am ready if called upon by the manager."

“You¿d have to think that Moussa was bought as a squad player. Maybe he has a lot of potential but there¿s also a lot of competition for the midfield places right now. The one thing that has so far stood out about him so far, though, is that he has a lot of pace, something that we are not overly blessed with. I can¿t think of anyone other than Dyer and Waghorn, and possibly N¿Guessan, with that quality. Pace with control is very difficult to defend against and like gold dust in this division.

I noticed that Moussa played in the Reserve¿s friendly match against West Ham. The fallacy of not entering a Reserve team into a formal league is again highlighted here. The club then has to arrange friendly matches to keep players like Moussa, who may play 20 minutes for the first team every other game, match fit otherwise they won¿t be as prepared as they should be when called upon.”
