A murder investigation has been launched after the body of a man was found in a property in Marriott Road, Saffron Lane, Leicester.

Police discovered the body at the property at around 3.35pm yesterday.

Police have appealed for witnesses after a man's body was discovered in Marriott Road, Leicester

A post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

Police cordoned off the property to allow for a full forensic examination of the scene.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Matt Hewson said: “Our investigation is in its very early stages and we are currently trying to establish what has happened.

“We are trying to piece together the circumstances that led to this death and would urge anyone who has information or recalls seeing anything suspicious to please contact police.”
