NHS bosses step in to help 3,200 patients find GP after Leicester Forest East medical centre closes
Health bosses have stepped in to provide more help for 3,200 patients who have until the end of the month to find a new GP.
The Hunter's Lodge Medical Centre, in Leicester Forest East, is closing at the end of February following the retirement of Dr Neil Grundy.

Bosses at the primary care trust (PCT) for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, which is responsible for GP services, had hoped the centre would stay open, but in a statement said: "We could not get a firm agreement for the continued use of the surgery for NHS patients after March 1."
Letters have been sent out to affected patients and a special registration session will be held at the Hunter's Lodge Medical Centre this afternoon from 2pm to 4pm. Special sessions are also being held at the nearby Forest House Medical Centre for patients who want to register with the practice.

“I was very unhappy about this. Unfair on all of the staff who are now out of the job (told only three days ago or so). And it's ridiculous that Dr Grundy is taking a load of holiday time straight into his retirement, so has already left. I'm disappointed having been at the surgery for 20 years.”
