A car salesman has raised more than £2,000 for charity by shaving his head.

Nik Gokani, sales manager at Sandicliffe, in Welford Road, Leicester, had his hair cut off at the Leicester Mercury Motor Show recently.

The 39-year-old, who lives in Leicester Forest East, did the stunt to raise money for the Our Space Appeal, for the children's cancer unit at Leicester Royal Infirmary.

"I thought, here we are having a lovely day, out in the sun, sitting in these flash cars, when there are children who aren't able to experience that because they are in hospital," he said.

"The staff at the hospital do an amazing job and I think it is really important to show that we are thinking of them, and what patients are going through.

"Since I have had it done, clients have come in to see me and have asked me what I have done to my hair.

"When I tell them, many have been really generous with donations."

Nik hopes to complete more fund-raising events in the future, to raise cash for different charities.
