Police have released details of the latest mugging in Victoria Park, Leicester.

It brings to nine the number of people targeted in the park during a three-week period in January.

The latest incident to be made public by police happened at 7pm on Sunday, January 22.

The 19-year-old victim was walking across the park from London Road towards the war memorial.

He was approached by a man, who asked him for his phone.

When he refused, two other men threatened him before assaulting him.

The suspects made off with a black Samsung Galaxy Mini mobile phone and a silver iPod Touch.

The suspects are of Eastern European appearance, about 5ft 8in and in their 20s.

They all had dark, close-cut hair. One was wearing a white, puffa jacket with a blue diagonal stripe on the front.

They left in the direction of the bus stops in London Road.

    “Dear Mr Policeman,

Just put a pile of metals (don't have to scrap) in the park and wait say erm 30 seconds and bingo... You'll catch them red handed.

But yes, you will need to leave the car....”

Yes OGBOT they should have a full time warden,Yes dianer341,Put a camera up,and yes ruweller, Get the Police out of their cars. I suspect like last time I will get some stick for this, put what you like on the Internet but get some physical, tangible presence in that Park.”

“The Police seem to spend a lot of time driving around that area, but I guess catching these blokes may involve getting out of the car.?!”

“I lived close to Victoria Park when I was a child in the 50s and 60s. Although Leicester did not have the crime levels we see today, we all knew that taking a short cut across Victoria Park at night could be asking for trouble. Better to use London Road even if your journey takes a little longer.”

“Opinion8ed - Well lit paths are what makes it easy for them, they let the criminal see you, and provide perfect cover of darkness for them...”

“The solution is staring people in the face - use well lit paths, do not cross this park in the dark and be aware that there are worthless people willing to deprive you of your hard earned goods given half a chance. Please don't make it easy for them.”
