The football season has hardly reached the point of 'must-win' games or 'six-pointers'.

Even so, Aylestone Park's clash at the Linwood with Basford United in the East Midlands Counties League tomorrow is one to keep a close eye on.

Both sides have been promoted this season – and currently occupy the top two slots, United leading the way on goal difference as they, Park and Barrow Town all sit on 13 points.

Park climbed up to second thanks to back-to-back away wins against Ellistown and Thurnby Nirvana during the Bank Holiday weekend, suggesting they are well and truly settled in their new surroundings.

The goals of Levi Ramsey have been key to Park's excellent start, but Ephraim Williams and Kieran Neat have also been on target for the new boys.

Blaby & Whetstone Athletic look a tougher proposition this season, and the addition of Jermaine Gordon has given them a potent goal threat, something that Anstey Nomads must deal with at Warwick Road tomorrow.

Ellistown have a testing trip to Graham St Prims ahead of them, while the task for Lutterworth Athletic, another promoted side, is to get on the board.

They have yet to pick up a point in the EMCL ahead of their visit to Greenwood Meadows.

Rothley Imps have got their Senior League season up and running after losing their opening-day fixture to Ashby Ivanhoe.

The defending Premier Division champions have since banked six points with wins against Birstall United and Kirby Muxloe Reserves – Steve Hart on target in all of Imps' games to date.

That has left them in fourth place in the table and they receive the side immediately ahead of them, Desford, tomorrow – the visitors having won both their games so far.

Caterpillar head the chart with seven points from three matches, quickly consolidating following their Division One title success last term. They entertain Cottesmore Amateurs in the latest round of fixtures.

Highfield Rangers have made a good start with six points on the board already. Their 100 per cent record will be tested at Kirby.

Saffron Dynamo, who are looking for their first point of the season, travel to the Memorial Ground to face Sileby Town.
