Offenders are helping to clear drainage ditches in woods.

The weekly sessions, which involve removing debris in Burbage Woods, off Smithy Lane, in Hinckley, are to continue as long as weather conditions permit.

It is one of a number of schemes Hinckley and Bosworth Council and Leicestershire and Rutland Probation Trust are working on to improve the environment.

A council spokesman said doing the work helps the offenders "get the opportunity to learn new skills that will hopefully enhance their chances of gaining employment in the future and reduce their risk of re-offending".
