A group of youngsters is preparing to march on to the stage at Curve as part of this year's Christmas show.

The Scout and Guide Band of Leicestershire, made up of boys and girls from Thurmaston, Syston and Wigston, is one of the musical ensembles taking part in the festive spectacular Hello, Dolly! which opens today.

The melodic assembly will also include the Enderby Brass Band, Wigston Brass Band and Guthlaxton College Band.

In total, there will be 100 players in the pool of musicians, who will rotate performances each night, performing the song Before the Parade Passes By.

The show's musical director Ben Atkinson has previously worked on Oliver, the King and I and 42nd Street.

Ben said: "I wrote new orchestration for all the players which was suitable for the instruments. They'll all come on at the end of act one and march in their band uniforms."

Hello, Dolly! tells the story of Dolly Levi, a professional matchmaker focused on bringing love to Manhattan.

However, she soon realises that one of the suitors brings more than a little sparkle to her own eye, too.
