HINCKLEY: An orchid expert will be giving gardening tips to visitors at a garden centre.

Keith Bates, of Hinckley and District Orchid Society, will be at Woodlands Nursery and Garden Centre, Stapleton, on Saturday and Sunday, from 10am until 4pm. He will display 12 varieties of orchids and give advice.

ENDERBY: Enderby Area U3A was entertained at its February meeting by Steve Brooks, of Glenfield Travel. He told some very funny anecdotes of what he had observed during his time as a travel agent.

GROBY WI: Guest speaker was national press photographer Deborah Brady. Her first job was assisting the paper's photographer but she went on to photograph Michael Jackson.

WIGSTON: Leicestershire libraries will present The Poetry Gathering (mehfil-e-shayeri), multi-lingual poetry, at Wigston Magna library, Bull Head Street, on Saturday, from 3pm to 4.40pm.

THRINGSTONE: Friends of Thringstone's walks programme kicks off on March 14 with a blue plaque walk starting at 2.30pm from The Green. Cost is £2 per walker.
