Detective Constable George Fraser said: "We believe there were a number of people in the area at the time of the incident and it is those people we want to talk to."

The victim has been able to provide only a limited description of his attackers, who ran away towards Humberstone Road.

They are both about 5ft 6ins, of medium build and were wearing dark clothes and had hoods covering their faces.

People are urged to contact DCFraser on 101 or Crimestoppers, which is anonymous, on 0800 555 111, if they have any information.
