Parents of Madeleine McCann hail new probe as 'huge step'
The parents of Madeleine McCann have described a police review of the case as "a huge step".
A team of detectives in Portugal has been appointed to re-examine the original investigation into Madeleine's disappearance.
It follows a review by Scotland Yard officers which began in May last year.
Speaking on Saturday ahead of a 10-kilometre run for the charity Missing People, in Regent's Park, London, Gerry McCann said: "We're 10 months into the Met's review process and it's important for us.

"It has taken pressure off us knowing the police are reviewing everything. It's a huge step for us."
Madeleine, from Rothley, was nearly four when she went missing from her family's holiday flat in Praia da Luz, Algarve, in May 2007.
Almost 1,000 runners took part in this year's Miles for Missing People event, to raise money for its 24-hour helpline.
Kate McCann said: "It's a cause and a charity very close to our hearts. We've been able to meet people who are in similar situations.
"Although each experience is unique, we are all going through that fight and pain of not having a loved one with us."
Kate raised £2,587.50 for the charity through a page on the Just Giving website. In a statement on the Official Find Madeleine Campaign Facebook group, she wrote: "It was greatly encouraging – judging from the brilliant turnout – to see that the weather and resulting conditions (rain, wind and mud!) didn't put any of us off.
"It was also fantastic to have so many children there, participating in the fun run. Well done!
"A huge thank you to everyone who supported the event (including all those who generously sponsored me and other runners).
"In doing so you have contributed to the essential work done by the team at Missing People, and thereby helped the many missing children and adults, and their families left behind."
