Huncote council is looking to replace councillors Clair Brown, following her resignation, and Ken Davies, who has retired.

It also has a third, long-standing, councillor vacancy.

Candidates are invited to provide a brief summary of their experience and reasons for wanting to be considered, as well as any special areas of interest they have.

“Why should anyone want to be a parish councillor ?

No power, no pay and lots of abuse from ignorant people who have never lifted a finger for their village.

I know. I was a parish councillor for 11 years. Am I bitter ? Dead right I am.”

“Why should people be required to own land or property in order to stand for the council?

Isn't this a medieval practice designed to prevent the less wealthy from contributing?”
