A man died after the car he was travelling in was involved in a crash.

Robert Martin Harrison was a passenger in a car which crashed in Sewstern, on the border of Leicestershire and Lincolnshire, on Saturday.

The 55-year-old, who lived in nearby Freeby, was formally named by Leicestershire Police yesterday.

The driver of the car, a white Vauxhall Corsa, was taken to hospital in Peterborough and was said to be in a stable condition.

Detectives have appealed for witnesses to the crash, which happened in Main Street, at 3.35pm. No other vehicle was involved.

Detective Constable Paul Bingham said: "The vehicle was travelling from Sewstern towards Wymondham at the time of the collision.

"I would like to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or saw the vehicle prior to the collision to please contact me as soon as possible."
