Paul Gallagher aiming high at Leicester City now his injury problems are over
Paul Gallagher is hoping his Leicester City injury problems are finally behind him.
The 25-year-old striker admitted that he is playing catch-up after problems following a thigh injury.

Gallagher missed the final two games of pre-season and then the Championship matches at Crystal Palace and Burnley.
But he was back with a bang in the Carling Cup win at Leeds, keeping his place for the Reading defeat last weekend.
Gallagher said: "It's been frustrating for me because last season I played in most of the games and it was a successful season."
He revealed that his inactivity was down to cramp.
"That's been the problem. I missed a lot of the pre-season with the thigh problem so I'm catching up on match-time," he said.
Gallagher admitted he had some apprehension about returning to the side at Elland Road. But he played an instrumental part in City turning around the tie to win 2-1 with a late Steve Howard spot-kick.
"I was struggling at the end and I was pleased to look up and see 89 minutes on the clock when we got the penalty," said Gallagher.
"I usually take them but I was worried I might cramp up. I was so glad to see the ball in the back of the net. He (Howard) deserved his goal."
Gallagher is waiting to see what manager Paulo Sousa does with his team formation when City return to action at Coventry a week on Saturday.
Reverting to a 4-4-2 with Howard and Gallagher up front transformed City's fortunes at Leeds, but it did not work against the Royals and Gallagher was substituted after 55 minutes.
Former City loanee Tom Cleverley believes his switch to Wigan will help his chances of succeeding at Old Trafford.
The midfielder joined the Latics on a season-long deal on deadline day.
"This was the right next step for me," he told the Manchester Evening News.
"Sir Alex Ferguson had said he wanted to keep me, but looking at the size of United's squad and the quality of the midfielders, I worried I might not get many chances."

“sounds like a good plan, a bit annoying when you do stay on topic and they tell you that you know nothing etc.. when they don't even have an opinion worth debating.. and some people are afraid of intelligence also, you may have noticed. But if you can stick to your guns you'll do alright.
You are getting praise from the real posters and that is what matters, but I also think that's what the spam gang love to hate so might want to watch your back a tad.
Good to have some honest debate though.. Cheers”

“That¿s pretty much it about Gallagher.
I¿ve noticed. I¿ve been reading this forum for the best part of a year now before deciding to take part and I know what goes on. Sometimes it can be funny, but on other occasions...!
I think I¿ll be staying resolutely on topic!”

“I think your right,
It's a case of don't want to let him go, but can't really fit him in anywhere, and don't want to build team around him.
Rather have him on the wage bill than playing against us.
Too good to warm the bench, and unfair to him.
I see I am back in as target on main topic again - oh goody!
Will give Keith and Nav a break though I guess.”

“In a way. Ullathorne missed out because, although a decent left-back, he couldn¿t match the crossing ability of Guppy when going forward.
But if you look at Guppy, he had such a sweet left foot that his position in the team was obvious, either left wing or left wing-back. We had nobody better.
With Gallagher, I think the point I¿m trying to make is that, as a footballer, he probably has more skill than most at the club. But how many positions are there where you could say he was the best at the club? He¿s not the best striker, winger or central midfielder and as such you almost have to create a position for him to fit him into the team.”

“I¿m no medical expert, but there¿s got to be more to an ongoing thigh injury than just ¿cramp¿, hasn¿t there? What¿s causing the cramp?
I¿ve always thought that Gallagher was one of our more skilful players, but Sousa seems to be having the same trouble as Pearson in finding his best position in the team. Although he is adaptable, he¿s not quick or clinical enough to play up front, drifts inside in search of the ball when out wide and his tackling lets him down when he plays centre midfield. He¿s probably best playing just behind the strikers, but I¿m not sure if our system will include such a role.
I can¿t help but think that Gallagher is the sort of player that most managers would regard as a luxury, with the result that he will probably end up starting fewer games than his talent warrants.
As to Cleverley going to Wigan, it¿s good to see that he¿s going to get the chance to prove himself in the Premiership. He should be just about the finished article when we finally get there and bring him back to the City!”

“You must have been watching a different game to me at Leeds, no way was that a 442 we changed too it was more like a 4141, Reading was a 442 with Gallagher upfront that's why it didn't work because it didn't have the benefit of King in the middle just behind/alongside Gallagher both supporting Howard.”
