Richie Wellens has joined Ipswich Town on a month's loan and Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson has admitted he is also willing to discuss extending Paul Gallagher's loan spell at Sheffield United.

Wellens has joined the Tractor Boys to gain valuable first-team action as he continues his comeback from knee surgery.

United boss Danny Wilson is understood to be keen on taking Gallagher for a longer period of time and Pearson said he is open to talks on the matter.

"I have not had contact with Danny yet but if he does contact me and expresses an interest then that is something to be discussed, certainly," said Pearson.

"But it has been a good experience for Paul and it has suited all parties.

"It is good for him to be playing because he has had a difficult time."

Meanwhile, Pearson said yesterday that defender Ritchie De Laet will be available for the visit of Bristol City to the King Power Stadium tomorrow.

The Belgium international right-back missed the 2-0 victory at Huddersfield Town on Tuesday with a hamstring problem which forced him out of action in the first half at Middlesbrough last weekend.

However, young defender Liam Moore has deputised well and Pearson must decide whether to change a winning side that had performed so well in the win at the John Smith's Stadium.

Pearson said City would go into tomorrow's game in high spirits after their fourth consecutive victory saw them climb into second place in the Championship table.

"It was a really good performance the other night and we have to try to keep the run going," he said.

"We are going into an international break now and it would be nice to finish with a positive result.

"I know performances have been pretty good all the way through, the defeat to Burton Albion apart."

“it may have been overlooked because of knockaerts brace of cracking goals , but gally got a decent goal for sheff utd.
i think both gally and wellens will struggle to be first choice players for city this season , even when fully fit , but it makes good sense to have them ready and willing for emergencies later on in the season”

    “I have always liked Wellens.

If he can recover 100% and get fit he could have a part to play in the latter part of our season.”

“Good luck to these players. Its also comforting that NP can see when these guys are over the hill as far as City are concerned. I never liked Galagher as ive said many times. I always considered him a "bottler" I respect other folk who liked him Its all down to opinion. Wellens legs had gone last season. But wish them well.”

“I hope he helps Ipswich turn things around. There are a lot of other teams i would rather see relegated. Same clause, cant play against us. Cool”

“I wouldn't mind betting that the tractor boys will want to keep him on permanently. So we might get a few bob for him, as he is in the twilight of his playing days now.”
