Pertinent query
Ms Sheri Newby asked a very pertinent question which I also asked when I became a veggie. (Flawed thinking, April 26).
Ms Newby asked if everyone became veggie "where would that leave the animals in question?''
We only have vast numbers of farmed animals because they are artificially bred.
Changing eating habits is a slow process. The numbers of animals bred for food would therefore decline gradually as demand fell. If everyone eventually became veggie, the few remaining animals would be allowed to live out the rest of their natural lives; but I think this scenario is unlikely!
However, if fewer people ate meat and those who continued consumed less of it, at least the animals needed for food could be reared more humanely.
