Pete saluted by market
A funeral cortege will be driven through a market on Monday to honour a council worker who died in a road accident.
Pete Wilkes, 62, was well known through his work as a binman for Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, and for putting up and dismantling stalls at Hinckley market.
Traders laid flowers on a stall in memory of Mr Wilkes on Monday and have started a collection for his family. The coffin will be driven past the stalls in Castle Street on Monday to the funeral at Great Meeting Unitarian Church, Baines Lane, Hinckley, at 12.30pm.
Mr Wilkes died when a refuse truck overturned on the B5380 roundabout at Kirby Muxloe on May 29.
