A 39-year-old man has been charged with robbing a woman of her mobile phone.

The incident is alleged to have taken place on the evening of June 11, while the 26-year-old victim was in New Street, Leicester city centre.

The man is due to appear at Leicester Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, September 12.

    “Cannot understand why people rob mobile phones. Unless they are being sent overseas, they are essentially useless once reported stolen as the IMEI number is locked across all UK networks, rendering it useless as a phone. If it an Apple device, it is completely locked so nothing can be used.”
