South Wigston: The Bassett Centre is holding an open day on Saturday, June 20, from 10am to noon.

Groups who use the community centre are organising the event, offering people the chance to find out what services are provided locally and to learn about volunteering opportunities with the South Wigston Community Association.

There will also be a short ceremony to unveil a plaque in memory of Claude Markham who gave so much of his time to the community.

South Wigston: A Flower Festival for Life takes place at South Wigston Methodist Church, Blaby Road, on Saturday, June 20, from 10am to 4pm.

Refreshments, ploughman's lunches, cream teas, along with cake and bric-a-brac stalls, will be on offer. Admission is free.

Oadby: The University of Leicester Botanic Garden is holding a sculpture exhibition, plant sale and family day on Sunday, June 28. 11am to 5pm. Entry £3, with children free.
