Police appeal after sex assault in Thorpe Astley
Leicestershire police are appealing for witnesses after a schoolgirl was sexually assaulted in Thorpe Astley.
The 12-year-old girl was subjected to a serious sexual assault by a person known to her between 6pm and 6.45pm on Monday, September 17 in the Collins Close area.
A 14-year-old boy has been charged and remanded in custody in connection with the incident and will appear before Leicester Youth Court later this month.
Detectives are appealing for public help to trace potential witnesses.

Detective Constable James Cavendish said: “We would appeal to anyone who used the footpath which connects Thorpe Astley with the bridge between Columbine Close and Kingsway North around the time of the incident on Monday September 17 to contact us.
“We would also like to speak to anyone who used the underpass connecting Thorpe Astley and Kingsway North between 6pm and 6.45pm.
“Even if you believe you didn’t see anything significant we would still urge you to contact us.”
