"But she did not court contact with many people. Villagers believed she had gone to visit friends who live in America as she had not been seen for some time.
"We were unaware that the police were trying to find out where she was."
Police said Mrs Linzey was last seen on Thursday, July 19 when she was dropped off by taxi at the recycling area at Morrisons, Lutterworth.
Jane, who is white, 5ft 7in and slim usually wears a long-sleeved polo top and jeans.
She usually wears glasses but did not have them on when she was last seen.
Sergeant Gavin Drummond, from the county's missing from home team, said: "We are growing increasingly concerned for Jane's safety and welfare.
"We have carried out a number of inquiries and have discovered that Jane's bank accounts have not been accessed since July.
"She has not collected her medication from her doctor, which has obviously worried us."
Contact police on 101.
