Police officer appeals for help to relaunch Neighbourhood Watch in Mountsorrel
A village beat officer has urged people on his patch to help him revitalise its Neighbourhood Watch scheme.
Pc Ian Mundy hopes to find a volunteer to co-ordinate or be members of the crime-fighting scheme in Mountsorrel.
He would also like to hear from people who are already in scheme in the village to draw up an up to date list of contacts.
He said: “It doesn’t take a great deal of time to run a scheme but the benefits can be enormous, particularly in terms of bringing communities closer together by looking out for each other and reporting suspicious behaviour.

“Members receive details of crimes in their areas, have access to crime prevention literature and stickers and things such as UV pens for marking property.
“Being part of a scheme strengthens links with local police officers and helps to reduce crime by sharing information and raising awareness of any crime issues.
“I am really keen to find volunteers willing to coordinate a scheme because I think it would be really good for Mountsorrel.”

“There are too many people who see things that are wrong but go home and ignore it as it is not their problem. They then complain that the area is going down hill as crime rises.
I wish Pc Mundy well.
If he succeeds can he get advice to Belgrave and Melton Road area.
You need Sherlock Holmes to find anyone who does anything to help the area.Hence, look at all the rise in crime in the area.”
