Police are appealing for witnesses to a street assault.

The 45-year-old victim was assaulted by three men in Beaumont Leys Lane, near the roundabout at Red Hill Way, in Beaumont Leys, Leicester.

He was treated in hospital for cuts and bruises to his head.

The attack happened at about 5.15am on Sunday, September 9.

Police are looking to trace two witnesses who saw the incident but were not at the scene when officers arrived.

Pc Michael Steer, who is investigating, said: "This was a distressing incident for the victim.

"There were two people who stopped to help the victim but we do not have their details.

"They are a woman in a black car and a lorry driver. These people may have vital information about this incident so we would ask them to please contact police as soon as they can."

The first suspect is white with a dark complexion, aged 20 to 25, about 6ft and slim.

The second man is white, aged between 20 and 25, about 5ft 6ins and of medium build.

The third man is white, aged about 20, about 5ft 5ins and of medium build.
