Police urge sex attack victims to get in touch
Police want to hear from four women they believe might have fallen prey to a prolific sex attacker in Leicester.
Officers have been investigating a series of indecent assaults in the Clarendon Park and Westcotes areas of the city since the beginning of this year, after a number of women reported they had been targeted.
Police have now said they have received information about further incidents where the potential victims have not yet contacted officers.
They are urging women who think they could have fallen victim to the man to contact them.
PC Sophie McMahon, who is investigating, said: "We have identified at least four further incidents where women have been assaulted yet we have no record of these crimes.
"It could be that these women did not report these incidents to us at the time.
"However, we'd encourage women to look at the dates and locations of the identified incidents. If you think that you could have been victim to this man then please contact us."
Police have given the following information about the four incidents. The first took place in the early hours of November 15, 2008, when a woman was "walking up Narborough Road South on the service road in the direction of Asda, possibly on her way to work".
The second incident took place on January 13, 2009, before 6am. In that case the woman was "walking on the left hand side of a pavement somewhere in central Leicester, carrying a black rucksack with red or purple piping, again possibly on her way to work".
The other two incidents both occurred in the early hours of March 14, 2009.
One involved a woman wearing "a floral dress" who was "followed down a terraced street, possibly after an evening out".
The second involved a woman wearing a beige dress and brown belt "walking along possibly Knighton Park Road with no shoes on, possibly after an evening out".
Police have not given any more information about any of the four incidents, nor said how they know about them.
A spokeswoman for the force said it had contacted the University of Leicester and De Montfort University asking them to forward their appeal on to students and alumni.
Businesses in both areas have also been contacted and the appeal has been posted on social networking sites.
A 36-year-old man was been charged with 15 counts of sexual assault and two counts of possession of extreme pornography in September and is due back in court this week.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC McMahon on 0116 222 2222. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
