Liberal Democrats are celebrating victory in an election for a vacant seat on Barwell Parish Council.

Their candidate, Charlotte Green, won the Redhall ward seat with 109 votes, to 75 for the Labour candidate, Tina Hollingworth, and 61 for Conservative candidate Russell Roberts.

The turnout for the election on Thursday was 21.96 per cent.

The election was called following the resignation of Carl Fox.
