Prayers will be said today in memory of a six-year-old boy from Rutland and his grandmother, who were found dead in a pond.

The pair, who have been named locally as Dawn Mullany, 71, and Laurence Mullany-Mills, were found in a duck pond in Holywell, near Castle Bytham, Lincolnshire, after they were reported missing on Thursday.

It is believed the pensioner, who lived in Castle Bytham, and her grandson, may have stopped to feed the ducks at the remote pond, on the journey back to the boy's home in Ketton, Rutland, on Thursday, after spending the day together.

The boy's mother reported them missing at around 9.20pm.

Police divers pulled Mrs Mullany from the icy waters a few hours later, discovering Laurence at the same spot at around 4am on Friday.

Prayers will be said at services today at several churches in the Ketton area in memory of the pair and to support their family.
