Children from 15 primary schools joined together for a series of musical performances for their parents.

Hundreds of youngsters took part in the annual concerts arranged by the Loughborough Primary Development Group, which represents the town's primaries.

The performances at Woodbrook Vale, Limehurst and Garendon high schools had a water and oceans theme this year.

Development group co-ordinator Jenny Cousins said: "The kids have been practising songs through the day to prepare them for performances in front of their parents.

"They have been great and they have shown a lot of confidence to sing as well as they have."

Students from the high schools also helped with the performances by accompanying the songs on their musical instruments.

Ms Cousins said: "There is more to doing this than just having great fun.

"Head teachers feel it is important to try to get the children from different schools to mix socially and these concerts are a great opportunity to do that.

"The kids will also end up coming to these high schools when they leave the primary schools and that can be a big leap.

"This helps them become a little more familiar with the places where their education will continue."
