PUB THEATRE: The Off the Fence Theatre Company has teamed up with Leicester pub The Western to programme a month-long festival of performances.

Upstairs at the Western will be Leicester's first fringe pub theatre.

Between March 12 and April 14, 22 different acts, including music, dance, storytelling and theatre will entertain audiences.

The pub's spare space has been redecorated, a stage built and lights installed to transform it into a new venue.

Producer Verity Bartesch said: "We first tried Upstairs at the Western in October with new play Godot Was Here by Loughborough-born writer Thomas Scully. We knew the pub had great potential and are delighted so many other performers are getting the chance to try it for themselves."

Off the Fence's first production, Market Forces, was performed in Leicester Market in December, 2011, and it has now chalked up 17 productions.
