Puppy rescued from frozen lake in Braunstone
Firefighters used an inflatable sledge to rescue an eight-month-old puppy from a frozen lake this afternoon.
The technical rescue unit from the Leicester Southern station used the specialist equipment to lift the dog from the icy lake at Braunstone Park at about 4.30pm.
The unit and two teams from Western station were called out at 4.10pm after the owner reported that the Staffordshire Bull Terrier-Boxer cross was four metres from the shore in the icy water.
The firefighters advised the owner to stay out of the lake before rescuing the puppy.

“Exactly, same story last year but older dog. The park is big enough to avoid the lake area”
