Ravenstone lift new Lions soccer trophy
Glenfield: A football tournament was held at Anstey Nomads Ground with the aim of selecting the winners of the round robin tournament to represent them in the Lions District Cup, taking in the counties of Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Rutland, Leicestershire and part of Derbyshire.
Three local under-14s teams took part, with Ravenstone FC. being the first winners of the new Bradgate Lions Challenge Shield, which was presented to them by the Lions Club President Roger Gamble.
It is intended that the shield will be contested for every year from now on, with the winning side playing for the Lions U14 District Cup, and if they are successful, proceeding into the Lions National Competition as U15's the following season.
A charity fund raising race night is to be held at Markfield Court Community Centre on January 23 and a St. Valentines Eve Dance on February 13 at Thornton Village Hall, both of which are open to the public.
For details about the Bradgate Lions activities or about how to join them, ring Roger on 01530 242912.
They meet on the second Thursday of each month at Forest Hills Golf Club, Botcheston, and all are welcome.
