Rebel nurse recounts hospital experiences in Leicester
Knighton: A talk called On Being a Rebel in the 1950s at Leicester General Hospital was given by Pauline Wells, of Great Glen, to members of Knighton Drop In Centre.
She has presented her speaker's fee to the Rainbows hospice appeal.
She explained she was one of the first married nurses, highlighted the many changes, including in uniforms, and took along items of memorabilia to show.
She also sold £36 of Rainbows merchandise.
Leicester: The National Council of Women (NCW), a voluntary organisation, would welcome more members in its Leicester and county branch.
NCW works in association with many nationally affiliated organisations to improve women's lives and opportunities.

Oadby: The Trefoil Guild had a talk from Chris Sturgess-Smith about a ladies' driving challenge she had taken.
She drove several vehicles, including a fire engine, steam engine, articulated lorry and a 4x4, raising £150 for Loros.
Members saw photographs of the launch of the guide Centenary Year at Belvoir Castle.
They met in the Church of Christ, Rosemead Drive. and planted 100 daffodils.
