GREETHAM: An annual "sloe gin" contest was held at the Plough with a record 39 entries.

Overall champion was Kath Smeeton, who won both the 2008 and Anything Older classes. The 2009 class was won by Steph and Harro de Vries, of Bullfield. Funds raised were split between Rutland Stroke Club and Help For Heroes.

HUMBERSTONE: Hunger lunches held by Churches Together in Humberstone raised more than £300 for the Haiti earthquake fund to mark Christian Unity.

A concert was also held at St Joseph's Church Hall.

KEGWORTH: David Hayes was co-opted on to Kegworth Parish Council at its February meeting.
