There was some relief around Cropston Road on Saturday evening after Anstey Nomads registered their first league win of the season.

Five defeats and a draw in their opening half-dozen games was hardly the start Nomads were looking for but they began to put a better light on matters thanks to a 2-1 victory over Holbrook Sports.

Jon Tature and Darren Taylor scored their goals and, though they remain in the lower reaches of the table, the Anstey men will be hoping to build some momentum.

The same is true of Bardon Hill Sports and St Andrews, who both sit in mid-table after recording their second wins. Bardon were 2-0 winners over Radcliffe thanks to goals from Ryan Collis and Leighton Simmonds.

The Andrews returned from Radford with a 2-0 win to their names. Keiron Linnett hit both goals for the Andrews and he now has four to his name from as many starts.

Ellistown missed out as they were beaten 2-1 at home by Borrowash Victoria, while points remain in short supply for Lutterworth Athletic. They were pipped 2-1 at home by Graham St Prims and remain stuck at the foot of the table.

For Barrow Town and Aylestone Park, who go head-to-head this weekend, it was a case of hitting back immediately from defeats.

Town had crashed out of the FA Vase the previous week but they maintained their unbeaten start to the league campaign by winning 3-1 at county rivals Ibstock United.

Cameron Grey scored twice with Craig Noble completing the Riversiders' tally as they remained in third in the table.

Park's excellent start to the season had hit its first major obstacle the previous week in the shape of a strong Basford United side, who currently sit top of the pile.

The Linwood men responded well as they claimed a 2-1 victory from their trip to Holwell Sports.

Regular goal-getters Levi Ramsey and Lyndon Seal were on the mark for Aylestone as they held on to second place.
