Six-year-old Eve Sutton, of Botcheston, has sent in a drawing which includes the king's castle in the background.

Mum Emily said: "She is over the moon to have her drawing in the paper. Her sister, Molly, 10, was also planning to enter, so perhaps this will spur her on.

"We're very proud of Eve for all the effort she put in. Her gran suggested she enter and she absolutely loved the idea."

An entry by five-year-old Sophie Edge, of Birstall, shows the king wearing a hat and bright red robes.

Siblings Gareth and Amy Campbell, from Anstey, have both submitted entries to the competition.

Thirteen-year-old Gareth's painting includes Richard's gold crown, sword and shield as he entered battle, while six-year-old Amy's picture depicts him in a long purple cloak.

Dad Adrian said: "Amy decided to enter when she saw what her older brother was doing. We've been following the story in the Leicester Mercury and talking to them about it and the history behind the king.

"It's fantastic to have their entries in the paper.

"You never know, this might inspire them to become the next Banksy."

Youngsters across the city and county have been learning about the former monarch following the discovery of his remains beneath a council car park in Leicester city centre.

Our competition has three age categories – under-seven, seven to 11 and 12 to 15.

Curve, in Rutland Street, Leicester, has provided 12 tickets for forthcoming shows as prizes.

The winner of the under-sevens competition will win four tickets to Spot's Birthday Party.

There will be four tickets for James and the Giant Peach for the winner of the seven to 11 category, while the older children, will win tickets for the Moscow State Circus.

The deadline for entries is midnight on Sunday, March 17.

The competition is open to children in Leicestershire and Rutland.

Please include your name, address, age and phone number, plus a parent's e-mail address if available.
