Road stays shut in Loughborough as pothole widens
A gaping hole that appeared in a busy street on Saturday is still causing traffic disruption today.
The pothole in Wood Gate, Loughborough, grew suddenly wider on Saturday morning, forcing the county council to close the road and begin emergency repairs.
However, the work, due to be completed by the end of Saturday, is still not complete.
A spokesman for the county council said: "Following Saturday's road collapse, Wood Gate, in Loughborough town centre, will remain closed from its junction of Packhorse Lane to the A6 at High Street.

"Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes although the Beehive Lane pay-and-display car park will remain open.
"The area around the hole caused by the collapse has been made safe and an investigation will be carried out into the cause."
In 2011, a similar-sized pothole appeared in Baxter Gate, in the town.
