School in support of dedicated students
A school is asking members of the public to nominate pupils who have excelled during their A-level studies for the Leicester Mercury Young Achiever Awards 2012.
Leicester Grammar School, in Great Glen, is sponsoring the A-level Achievement category of the awards.
The school is keen for teachers and parents to put forward A-level students who have shown dedication, hard work and commitment.
Chris King, head teacher at Leicester Grammar, said: "We are proud to be associated with an award which will recognise students with the same aspirations and qualities to be the best they can be."

The school is ranked in the top 20 co-educational schools in the country and, this year, 85 per cent of A-level grades were between A* and B.
About 10 per cent of pupils who leave the school following their A-levels go on to study at either Oxford or Cambridge universities.
Mr King said: "Leicester Grammar School wants to be associated with excellence and those who strive for it.
"Record numbers of students have joined our sixth form this year wanting to be part of this success, and at our open morning, on November 3, we hope many more will come to see what we do."
The Leicester Mercury Young Achiever Awards will champion and celebrate the hard work, dedication and commitment of young people.
Those who have excelled in education, enterprise and sport will be recognised.
There is also a category for those who have made a difference in their community.
Anyone can nominate a deserving young person, aged between 14 and 25, who lives in Leicestershire. The entry form must also be endorsed by a relevant referee.
Nominations close on Saturday, October 20. For a nomination form or for more information, call Nikki Kandola at the Mercury on 0116 222 4310, or e-mail:
