Leicester Tigers could be in danger of losing full-back Scott Hamilton to the super-rich French.

The former All Black, whose contract runs out at the end of this season, is being chased by French and English clubs.

And if it comes down to money, the French, with their bigger budgets, could prise the 29-year-old away from Welford Road.

If Hamilton was tempted across the Channel he would follow in the footsteps of several other Tigers in recent years like Ollie Smith, Andy Goode, Henry Tuilagi and Julien Dupuy.

Hamilton says his future is likely to be decided soon.

"I will know in the next two or three weeks, we are working through things at the moment, " said the former Canterbury Crusader star who has made 37 appearances since arriving at Welford Road in November last year.

"Come Christmas I should have a clearer picture of where that is.

"Leicester has been good. I could stay here, but I have other options as well. There are French options and English options.

"That's nice. I am enjoying it here for sure, but we will wait and see.

"We have got a base here now, and it's good to be here. But then again there are options to go to different countries and live in different cultures.

"I've come from New Zealand and part of the attraction is improving yourself as a person, not just as a rugby player.

"Myself and my partner will weigh that up over the next couple of weeks.

"It's not something that is at the forefront of my mind, my agent is sorting it out, and when the time comes a decision will be made.

"Obviously the Heineken Cup and finishing the season is my primary focus and I'm trying not to get too distracted."

Hamilton, who won two caps for the All Blacks, has ruled out a return to New Zealand who host the 2011 World Cup.

He thinks his international career is over. "I think it's gone," he said.

"I have toyed with going home but I have only been here a year and a bit. It would almost have been a waste coming over here for a short period of time.

"I'm committed to staying in the northern hemisphere for at least another two years."

Tigers are also in contract negotiations with another former All Black, Aaron Mauger, who says his future will be decided next month.

Interestingly, though, the All Blacks are hoping he returns in time for the World Cup.

"I know the All Blacks are chasing guys like Aaron," said Hamilton.
