Series of injuries see Lions fall to two heavy defeats
Leicester Lions ended their regular season with two heavy defeats in two days.
The Elliott-sponsored team, who are already in the play-offs, lost away at Edinburgh on Friday night 55-38 and by 56-36 on Saturday night at Workington.
The Lions team have been almost injury free all season until this weekend, but for two nights running were under strength.
On Saturday, Magnus Karlsson was ruled out after his fall the previous evening, which left team manager Glyn Taylor having to share the Swede's rides out among the rest of the team.

Jari Mäkinen, who had also picked up a shoulder injury at Edinburgh, declared himself fit to ride but pulled out of the meeting after his second ride.
The situation was compounded when Lasse Bjerre crashed in heat 12 and had to pull out, which then left the Lions with four riders.
The task of competing on equal terms with a Workington team that had not lost at home all season proved too big a hurdle.
Despite their troubles, the Lions began surprisingly well and matched the home side in the early exchanges.
Wins for Kauko Nieminen and Lasse Bjerre, together with vital points picked up in the minor positions, enabled Leicester to remain level after five races.
Heat six was the turning point when Mäkinen retired before the end of the race and from there on Workington were in command and race by race they extended their lead.
The only interruptions came in heats 11 and 13 when Nieminen and Jan Graversen outscored the home riders.
Workington 56: Richard Lawson 14 points, Michael Palm Toft 7+2, Rene Bach 13+1, Tero Aarnio 4+2, Adam Roynon (rider replacement), Ashley Morris 0 and Kyle Howarth 18
Leicester 36: Kauko Nieminen 14 points, Jan Graversen 4+1, Lasse Bjerre 7+1, Linus Eklof 6, Magnus Karlsson (rider replacement), Jari Mäkinen 1+1 and Lewis Blackbird 4
The previous night at Edinburgh, where all the problems began, saw Lions down to five fit riders at the end of the fixture. The home side had been the better of the teams from the outset.
Leicester's problems came when Mäkinen fell and injured his shoulder, which ruled him out of the meeting.
Karlsson was also struggling following his earlier fall and he too had to pull out.
Edinburgh 55: Aaron Summers 9 points plus 2 bonus, Derek Sneddon 7, Theo Pijper 11+1, Matthew Wethers 8+2, Andrew Tully 12, Byron Bekker 3+2 and Marcel Helfer 5
Leicester 38: Kauko Nieminen 12 points, Jan Graversen 1, Lasse Bjerre 6+1, Linus Eklof 7, Magnus Karlsson 4, Jari Mäkinen 7 and Lewis Blackbird 1+1
