Humberstone: The morning service at Abbots Road United Reformed Church on Sunday, July 5, will be the final one for the minister, the Rev Pam Smith.

In the afternoon, there will be a farewell tea in her honour, organised by East Leicester Fellowship.

Pam has been a hard-working minister, supporting numerous clubs. She is going to a ministry in Ipswich.

Her husband, Ivor, a minister in Wigston, is to take up a ministry at Felixstowe.

Enderby: The June meeting of the Enderby area University of the Third Age was visited by Stephanie Brown, who gave a history of Leicester Children's Holiday Centre, Mablethorpe.

Stephanie spoke emotively about the setting up of the charity in the 1880s by Lady Rolleston after witnessing the poverty of some Leicester children.

This year, the charity is the focus of the Lord Mayor of Leicester's annual appeal.

Humberstone: Abbots Road Table Tennis Club will hold its annual marathon on July 4.

Everyone can go to watch or take on one of the players in a game.
