A mum who battled liver disease for more than 11 years has died, aged 39.

Sharon Thomas will be buried near her father, Graham, who died in the week Sharon was diagnosed.

The funeral will take place at St Helen's Church, Sharnford, on a date yet to be fixed. Sharon, originally from Sapcote, had a liver transplant nearly three years ago after developing cirrhosis, despite being a non-drinker.

The donor organ began to fail and, since October, she has been receiving regular treatment at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham. She died on Tuesday.

Sharon's mother Kate Thomas, of Sapcote, said: "She was the most wonderful daughter and a wonderful mum, so loving and caring and such a fighter."

On May 1, Sharon and her partner, Eric Lewis, were married in the hospital, watched by son Curtis, six.

Eric said: "With how poorly she was, the wedding pulled her through."
