Sickness policy unfair to majority
Nursing is a mentally and physically stressful and tiring job, so because of this nursing staff sometimes become ill.
The ridiculous policy that the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust has for sickness puts even more pressure on nursing staff.
Because of this, staff have had their contracts terminated, which doesn't help staffing levels
Incidentally, staff are told not to go to work when they are ill because it puts themselves and patients at risk.

Staff should not be put under the constraints of the sickness policy that is in place.
I know that, as in all walks of life, somebody will take advantage by abusing the sickness policy, but do not tar everyone with the same brush.

“My wife worked at a Hospital where a member of staff "worked the system" on sickness. Remaining on the sick for the maximum period of time then coming back to work just long enough to maintain full pay then going back on the sick again. It was ridiculous and extremely demoralising for the rest of the department and put extra workload on the other hard working nurses. There has to be a way of getting rid of these freeloaders.”

“Can we know the policy? Is it you turn up even if ill or not or something else. Is there a story that has prompted this letter”
