Leicester City will try to get their transfer targets signed quickly when the January transfer window opens.

Manager Nigel Pearson, who is usually reluctant to discuss transfer policy, said he is looking to bolster his squad with possibly two new signings, and added that they may have already made a couple of bids.

  1. Pearson

Pearson also admitted a new striker could be a possibility.

There has been speculation linking City with West Brom's Chris Wood, who is on loan at Millwall, and Stoke's Kenwyne Jones, but Pearson said he would not discuss his targets.

However, he did say new arrivals could give his squad a boost as they head into the second half of the campaign.

"If we are going to do it, we will try to get it done pretty quickly, but I am not going to speculate on any stories out there," he said.

"We may have already put some bids in but I don't speculate on deals that may or not be over the line.

"It is not something I like to do because we are talking about other club's players. Until the deals are done, then I am not going to be drawn on that.

"Maybe a striker, yes. We are always looking to strengthen. Whether you can or not is dependant on certain criteria."

“So Chris Wood turned out all right then (for his debut at least)??!! Another raid on the Lions Den for Liam Trotter in the offing to fulfil the midfielder requirement? Farewell to King and/or Wellens I think.....”

“Ash..with respect...we talked about striking a balance a few weeks ago, when Chappy talked about the old Arsenal sides mixing muscle with finesse. The same thing applies with experience. Pearson signed a lot of inexperience at the beginning of the season. We clearly struggled on Saturday (apart from the first 25 minutes)...the second half was frankly a shambles, when we went from bad to worse. IMHO we now need a few solid, experienced pro's to give us the stability required, building consistency...something that no team can advance without.
I'd like to see a strong midfielder & a capable striker with premiership experience, but would settle for the likes of the lad Wood (currently at Millwall) who gained solid experience at West Brom & is currently scoring for fun. They are out there, you just have to look...”

“Poor old bunbaker, Koren and five loanees make Hull, and one loanee's already been recalled. Enjoy this year's end, 'cos you won't enjoy the season's end. Hope your unheard-of Swiss reserve goalie is up for it tomorrow. 'Cos Stockdale's gone, and we know here how good he is. Nigel's building a team here, just like he did for you. Taxi for Hobbs, if Nugent plays.”

“So Huddersfield get to keep Beckford (you're welcome) AND all their Jordan Rhodes money. Well, Huddersfield is in Yorkshire. Just think of the striker we could sign with another couple of million added to Nigel's pot! Read Peter Swan prefacing the Hull game for Hull fans. Like me he thinks we play the best footie (with Hull of course) in the division. Bit like Holland when Germany kept winning. PLEASE could we just grind out an undeserved 1-0 win tomorrow? Just like Leeds, Millwall and Cardiff. Play-offs is not good enough. Remember THAT pen?”

I look forward to your comments on boxing day night. That is if you have the cobblers to do so after another 3-1 drubbing like before.”

“Foxfan1 I sorry you are out of order here. Jamie Vardy looked to have no confidence in pre season games. He just has less confidence now. A few of the others are tired worn out and stale. They need a rest but there is no cover. Linguard would be a joke were he in any other set up than LCFC. None of these Manchester United misfits are any use. Vardy and those two signings two million quid. what a total waste of money. the owners have to be deranged to put up with this nonsense.”

“Looks like Beckford is definitely out of the picture now, loan has been extended until the end of May. So the door is wide open for a new and hopefully an experienced finisher, here's hoping we get one early next week. The news that NP is seriously looking for a striker might give the current ones a kick up...you know where, starting on Wednesday at Hull. Or, does anybody think he might be tempted to give someone else a run out with Nugent and/or Waghorn in the next few games, strike rate can't be any worse, can it?
Merry Christmas to all Foxes fans everywhere.”

“So signing unknown players don't work, so Ian Wright never worked, Grant Holt did not work, ask Peterborough fans if it does not work, young Dwight Gayle was playing for Bishop Stortford last season has had a handful of games at Dagenham & Redbridge and is scoring in the championship, so Charlie Austin won't work for us then, never came through an academy was working has brickie not so long ago.
Jamie Vardy has worked in my opinion, have a look at his assists for the season, 4 months in and he is being slated, good looping header which hit the bar, very unlucky in my opinion”
