Sir David was a pleasure to meet
I really enjoyed the article in More magazine last weekend covering the life of Sir David Attenborough.
My husband and I have spent many hours following his wonderful natural history programmes from around the world. Most of our travels have been directly inspired by those.

This year being probably our last long haul, we decided to include Papua New Guinea.
It had been our dream since seeing David there, in the 1960s, but we had never expected to achieve that dream.

As a result, on our return, I wrote to Sir David explaining what an inspiration he had been in our lives.
Would you believe that by return of post, I received a hand-written letter from him saying what a delight it was to know that "he had encouraged us to travel so adventurously"?
He had stayed at Ambua Lodge where we had spent five nights.
That reply meant as much to me as all our travels.
