Sitting down can be dangerous
Sitting down for too long is bad for your health, according to a new study.
Researchers from Leicester and Loughborough universities have found that people who sit for long periods double their risk of diabetes and heart disease.
The study, led by Dr Emma Wilmot, a research fellow in the Diabetes Research Group at the University of Leicester, found that even those who took regular exercise still increased their risk if they sat for long periods during the day.
Dr Wilmot said: "The average adult spends 50 to 70 per cent of their time sitting. "
