Smoker fined for throwing cigarette butt out of car
A smoker has been fined for throwing a cigarette butt out of a car window.
Andrew Sutherland, of Chestnut Road, Littlethorpe, dropped a cigarette end from the driver's window while stopped at traffic lights in Lubbesthorpe Way, Leicester.
He was seen by a Blaby District Council civil enforcement officer who was patrolling the area.
Environmental health officers sent him a £75 fixed penalty notice, but he failed to pay or contact the council.

The case went to Leicester Magistrates' Court where Sutherland was convicted in his absence.
He was ordered to pay £90 with £100 costs.
Councillor Guy Jackson, the district council's spokesman for regulatory and neighbourhood services, said: "Mr Sutherland was given the chance to pay his fine, but due to ignoring all correspondence, the case had to be taken to court.
"I hope this action will make others aware that Blaby District Council has a zero tolerance to littering."

“PATHETIC !! So this is what they spend our council tax on? Keeping some jobsworth in employment.Money spent employing this clown could be spent on ADEQUATE security patrolling our streets for MUGGERS and bicycle thiefs. Classic case of a lazy council worker looking for the easiest pickings”
