Solar, so good for schools
Primary schools have joined a nationwide campaign to raise about £500,000 to use more solar energy in classrooms.
Avenue Primary, in Clarendon Park, Northfield House, in Northfields, and Folville Junior School, in Braunstone – all Leicester – will join about 30 schools from across England and Wales in the Solar Schools project, which was launched this week.

Run by the environmental group 10:10, the project will link traditional fund-raising activities with the use of social media websites to help schools raise money to install solar panels.
At Avenue Primary, pupils have already been gathering data about the school's energy efficiency and coming up with fund-raising ideas.
