Interest in next month's Leicester Lions challenge match at Rye House is rapidly gaining momentum.

The team will be captained by Sileby-based David Howes, a former British Grand Prix rider, and the supporters' club is already planning to put on extra transport to satisfy demand.

Lions meet the Rockets in a one-off 15-heat team fixture at the Hoddesdon Raceway, Hertfordshire, on Saturday, March 20. Tapes go up at 7pm.

The supporters' club have already filled one coach and are now taking bookings for a second.

In addition to the meeting, there will be a visit to the National Speedway Museum, based five miles from the Rye House Stadium.

Club secretary Steve Chilton said: "It promises to be a superb day out for all speedway fans, combining the old with the new as a trip down memory lane is followed by the Lions taking to the track later in the evening."

Howes has already been confirmed as skipper with the rest of the line-up to be announced shortly.
